July 26, 1981
The Pioneer Elevator in Claresholm burned to the ground. Granum was called to assist with that fire.

January 13, 1982
The Alberta Wheat Pool elevator in Granum caught on fire. The G.F.D. and several other fire departments responded to this fire. The grain elevator burned to the ground. Click here to view more images taken by Don Douglas. The Chief at that time was Alf Brisby, Deputy Chief was Leonard Bailey. The department had grown to 19 members.

August 27, 1984
The Alberta Hotel caught fire on a hot, windy, Chinook afternoon. The fire quickly spread with the aid of the heavy winds to a convenience store on Railway Avenue. The fire then spread across the street to the new Alberta Wheat Pool Elevator that once again burned to the ground. The fire continued on East to Gary Williams and Louis Greidanus Farm. The hotel was destroyed as well as the convenience store with severe damage to the ball diamond and loss of stubble to some neighboring farmers. Fort McLeod and Claresholm fire departments attended. Many farmers and ranchers supplied water tankers to help extinguish the fire. The Fire Chief was Alf Brisby, Deputy Chief was Leonard Bailey with 20 volunteer members. The original fire burned the power lines and poles and this disrupted the pump station so that it was not operational.

1986
John White was selected as the new Fire Chief. Don Douglas was selected as the new Deputy Chief. 17 volunteer members.

December 1, 1988
Don Douglas became the Chief, John White as Deputy Chief. 18 volunteer members.

January 17, 1989
Responded with the pumper unit to the H. T. Coutts School in Claresholm to assist the local fire department. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage.

May 11, 1989
Responded to the Jolly Roger Hotel in Claresholm to assist the local fire department. This time not so lucky the hotel burned to the ground.
