All the fire members receive regular shots for Hep A and B as well as Tetanus. This is done on a yearly basis for new members.

G.F.D. Annual Supper

The annual Granum Fire Department Supper was held on February 12, 2005 at Blunden Hall. A silent auction raised funds for the G.F.D. and some of the items included:

  • camping first aid kit - donated by Kost Fire Equip.
  • insulated picnic bag donated by mountview dodge
  • Granum history book "Leaving by Trail Granum by Rail" - private donation (last year one of these books went for $350!)

    G.F.D. participate in the first ever Annual Granum Fair

    The G.F.D. participated in the first ever annual Granum Fair that was co-ordinated by Councillor Anita Walker. All the volunteer organizations were present at this evening event which took place at the Blunden Memorial Hall on Friday April 08, 2005. The G.F.D. provided blood pressure readings, and the Town of Granum supplied beef-on-a-bun and refreshments free of charge. Several draws also took place with items donated by merchants in the Granum and Claresholm areas. The event was well attended by residents of the area including guests from England who really liked our little town and may be moving here this summer.

    Fire Extinguisher Day and garage sale

    Fire Extinguisher Day was held at the Fire Hall on May 14, 2005 starting at 8:00 a.m. with a garage sale. The fire extinguisher program began at 10:00 a.m. and ran until 2:00 p.m. Participants learned how to extinguish small fires, and extinguishers were brought to be re-charged. Hamburgers, hotdogs, cold drinks, and coffee were also available.

    G.F.D. Annual Co-ed Slow Pitch Tournament

    This year's tournament ran three days beginning Friday, June 09 with finals on June 11. 12 teams from around the area participated; the four top teams were awarded prizes.


    Canada Day Celebration - July 1, 2005

    The celebrations were kicked-off with a parade. The G.F.D. hosted a hose laying competition at 6:00 p.m., and also secured and monitored the area for the largest fireworks show in Granum's history.

    Gospel Music Jamboree - July 22, 2005

    The Willow Creek Gospel Music Jamboree kicked-off Friday with a chili supper at 5:00 p.m. Sunday there was a free pancake breakfast followed by an interdenominational church service. Some of the musicians who participated this year included: The Daae Family, The Hunter Family, and The Rawlings Brothers. The MC for the weekend was Daryl Janz, news anchor for CFCN. The G.F.D. once again helped with parking and manning the first aid station.


    Fire Prevention Week

    Safety Codes Officer, Don Douglas, was at the Granum Colony for Fire Prevention Week in Oct 2005. The students all participated in a fire safety coloring contest.
